"Do not pray as the hypocrites do..."

Praying alone... the best thing you can possibly do. Your not really alone since your with God during prayer, but boy oh boy, the impact.
I've been reading this book  and it's been very very helpful in strengthening my prayer life. The book emphasizes on physically speaking and crying out to God during prayer when you pray alone (or among others, but it focuses on personal prayer life) and at first, I thought the whole thing was a bunch of baloney. But truthfully, to vocalize what's on your heart really shows the sincerity in your prayers and reaches out in faith, both things God wants to see when you talk to Him.

I'd really encourage everyone I know to pray out loud, and when it comes to whatever you pray about, don't be emotionless or monotone. If you're angry, scream it out! If your sad, bawl and whine and be honest with God. Sincerity in your prayers should be your focus, don't try to make them sound fancy. A man who prays like a caveman but really means it has a better relationship with God than the linguistic man who refuses to be honest with God.

5 “And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. 7 And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. 8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

9 “This, then, is how you should pray:

   “‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
10 your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us today our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation,[a]
but deliver us from the evil one.[b]’"

PLEASE DO NOT PRAY THE ABOVE EXAMPLE WORD FOR WORD LIKE A MANTRA!

That is NOT what Christ was getting at, He meant to pray what was meant throughout the verse. The thanks, provision, requests, deliverance, forgiveness, the CONTENT of the prayer is the focus, not the structure.
